This year's Region 8 Band Concert Assessment was like no other in history. Instead of a live performance in front of three judges, band directors were required to submit a recording of their contest performance to be judged. This was, of course, due to COVID 19 restrictions.
The band spent March 16-20 working on these recordings according to director Brian Rhodes, Booneville Schools Director of Bands.
"It's very difficult to get quality results out of a recording, but the band did a great job during the recording process and we submitted a 1st division product." said Mr. Rhodes, Director of Bands.
The recordings were judged and the Booneville Advanced Band earned a 1st division for their efforts. This combined with their 1st division for Marching Assessment last October qualifies them for the ASBOA Sweepstakes award, which they have earned three out the past four years.
"The ASBOA Sweepstakes is the ultimate award that a band can earn,” said Rhodes. “This shows a well-rounded band program here at Booneville and Mrs. (Angela) Rhodes and I are proud to be the directors at this wonderful school."
